Massachusetts Association of Realtors® CEO Robert Authier to leave Association

WALTHAM, Mass. - October 4, 2018 – The Massachusetts Association of Realtors®(MAR) today announced that after 23 years of dedicated and distinguished service, Robert N.  Authier will leave his position as Chief Executive on December 1, 2018.

“We all wish Rob the very best as he pursues new career and life opportunities,” said MAR President Rita Coffey, general manager of Tullish & Clancy in Weymouth. “We are grateful that Rob has agreed to help the association with its transition to a new state association CEO and will also manage various activities as the organization welcomes more than 20,000 people attending the National Association of Realtors® (NAR) Conference & Expo that is taking place in Boston for the first time since 1929.”  

Prior to joining MAR, Authier previously served as CEO of the Virginia and New Hampshire Associations of Realtors®. He was the 2008 recipient of NAR’s Willam R. Magel Award of Excellence, the Bud Smith service award and was named the Southeastern Association Executive of the Year. He is an “Arkansas Traveler”, Conway Citizen of the Year, and honorary member of Ireland’s real estate association (IPAV). Authier is former chairman of the New England Society of Association of Executives, Virginia Council on Economic Education and past president of Boston University’s College of Communication alumni association.  An Eagle Scout, he also was vice president of the Heart of Virginia BSA Council. 

During his many years with the Realtor® organization, Authier headed the state association team providing housing assistance to victim families of the 9/11 bombings. He also founded and chaired NAR’s RAMCO membership system and served on several state and national committees. Prior to his Realtor® service, Authier was public relations director of the American Lung Association of Massachusetts, Monadnock Music Concert Series and a newspaper reporter in Holyoke.

Authier is a “Scarlet Key” graduate of Boston University, has earned his CAE, RCE, and e-pro association management designations. A member of the Newburyport Choral Society, he and his wife Deborah have three children.
